The Mission of the Blount County Literacy Council is to serve as an advocate for adult literacy by: · Partnering with the Adult Education programs and staff · Promoting community involvement · Providing assistance with funding
Vision: The Blount County Literacy Council creates, through education, a diverse community of skilled, knowledgeable and involved adults, enabling a higher quality of life for all in a changing world.
The Blount County Literacy Council supports and advocates for literacy in Blount County, Tennessee. We provide free literacy tutoring and group classes to adult residents of Blount County. We teach adults to read, write, and speak English proficiently, compute and solve problems, and use technology to function in the family, on the job, and in society. We also provide tutoring to adults in General Educational Diploma (GED). Typically, we provide services for over 600 adults yearly and to their families through educational programs.` |
